KIM WILKISSON
Independent, motivated, energetic, arugula-loving adventurous adoptive mom
Likes: 1st cup of tea in the morning, cooking, philosophical conversations with friends, unique travel experiences, reading, hiking, road trips
Dislikes: humidity, intolerance, injustice
Kim likes to challenge herself. After a 30-year career in sales and marketing, she co-founded a licensed childcare facility with the caregiver of her children. While it was an extremely rewarding 10-year journey, she decided she wanted to give back to the community in a different way. She sold the business to her partner and started classes at the Rutgers School of Social Work with the possible goal of becoming a licensed therapist. While in this mindset, she started looking for a role in the nonprofit world. She spent her first year with the NJ Angels as a Case Manager. This experience was invaluable for her in her new role as Executive Director. She had the opportunity to work with the families and children we serve, and see the positive impact our programs have on their lives.
As an adoptive mom to one of her 2 boys, she knows the importance of consistent support and presence in a child's life. Having a strong support system is essential for the development of all children, especially in the lives of children in foster care. She is inspired by the work being done on a national level and honored to be a part of the New Jersey chapter.
