KIM WILKISSON
Independent, motivated, energetic, arugula-loving adventurous adoptive mom
Likes- 1st cup of tea in the morning, cooking, philosophical conversations with friends, unique travel experiences, reading, hiking, road trips
Dislikes- humidity, intolerance, injustice
Kim likes to challenge herself. After a 30-year career in sales and marketing, she co-founded a licensed childcare facility with the caregiver of her children. While it was an extremely rewarding 10-year journey, she decided she wanted to give back to the community in a different way. She sold the business to her partner and started classes at the Rutgers School of Social Work with the possible goal of becoming a licensed therapist. While in this mindset, she started looking for a role in the nonprofit world.
Kim learned about New Jersey Angels through a non-profit women's group and she knew she had a call to help. As an adoptive mom to one of her 2 boys, she knows the importance of all relationships in a child's life. Having a strong support system is essential for the development of all children, especially in the lives of children in foster care. She is inspired by the work being done on a national level and honored to be a part of the New Jersey chapter.
