ERYKAH JONES
Single Mom of 3 teens, outspoken, charismatic, active parent, community leader, US Army Veteran
Likes: traveling especially abroad, spending time with her family, advocating for her kids and others, mentoring, helping others, dogs/cats
Dislikes: snakes, rodents, insects, liars, inconsideration, unjust situations/behaviors
Erykah is a single mom of 3 teenagers. She is originally from Salisbury, MD, but has been residing in New Jersey for the past 14 years. After returning from the military, Erykah decided to move to create a better life for herself and her children. She found joy in helping people that needed someone else as their voice. She started a career working with developmentally disabled adults, but realized she needed more to support her family. She enrolled in college and achieved an Associates in Human Service (2012) and Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (2015). Erykah achieved her degrees all while taking care of her young children, one whom she had to advocate for the entire time while in undergrad. “ I just want to help others who may not have support sort of how I was when raising my young children. I have learned a lot through my professional and educational experiences that I know for sure will make a difference in the entire family’s life.” Erykah plans to continue this work in which she has been called to do almost two decades ago. “It’s quite fulfilling knowing that your somewhat micro contributions can benefit at a macro level.”
